MAISON & OBJET.
We where invited to show case at the Maison & Objet. This is the major French trade fair for interior design. It has been described as "among the 3 most important European events for interior design ... a huge collection of innovation and talent all in one place."
Maison & Objet has 3000 brands of which 45% are international covering over 130000 m2 of space and are attended by 85000 visitors.
Kat says: "Maison objet was incredibly inspiring experience. Not only the exposure to international brands and multidisciplinary design but the brand merchandising and fine details that defines luxury brand product aesthetics. It also was incredible being in the Ethnic Chic hall; as I was among fellow Africans from across the continent. I had the opportunity to look at the incredible craft, and design coming from all around Africa. Tunisian interior brands, Algerian jewellers, Moroccan upholsters. From across our continent, and all its magical regions. I saw a plethora of design that told stories and excited the senses. I felt a deep knowing about what it means to be African and how the process of making -hand making is so integral to our culture."
Our era is clicking on the “Share” icon. Generation G for Generosity is bashing cynicism and liking “We”. New uses and values are reconfiguring ways of living together, exchanging information, goods, services and experiences. In the digital age, networking information is producing new tools with emerging practices in an economy of collaboration and cooperation. We are seeing a dynamic of creative sharing which is programming the future of a caring world.
BRAVE WOMEN PARIS, SIMONE DE BEAVOIR
For Simone de Beauvoir the activity of writing was the recreation exploration and communication of the meaning of personal experience. All her work is to some degree autobiographical even though events and people are often re-worked into a form of fiction.
